Sheila Amdur, M.S.W., is the second vice president and chair of the policy committee on the NAMI Board of Directors and a health care consultant in Hartford, Conn.
Given her own family's experience with mental illness, Ms. Amdur knows, first-hand, the power of NAMI to influence mental health policy and has committed her time and efforts to do what she can to expand NAMI's voice. She hopes to implement the NAMI Standards of Excellence at all levels to chart NAMIís course into the future.
Ms. Amdur has been the recipient of multiple awards, including the ADA Groundbreaker Award, the Social Worker of the Year, CT Psychiatric Society Distinguished Citizen Award and the "First for Kids" Citizen Advocacy Award. She is a member of NAMI Connecticut, the National Association of Social Workers and the League of Women Voters.
