The 2007 NAMI National Convention continued today in San Diego, CA.

Meanwhile, a Special Needs planning seminar, co-sponsored with the Special Needs Alliance, addressed long-term financial planning strategies for families living with mental illness.
The afternoon brought the opening plenary, with a special focus on the topic "Treatment Not Jails." Henry J. Steadman, president of Policy Research Associates, and Terry Cline, administrator of the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration were the featured speakers.
Other events of the day included a workshop on overcoming disparities in behavioral healthcare, presented the STAR Center, the opening of the exhibit hall, featuring over 70 exhibitors, and an open-mic talent showcase.
