Purpose: The Project Director will have primary responsibility for the overall program implementation, monitoring and evaluation of consumer support project activities. The Project Director/STAR Center Director is a member of the NAMI Senior Management Team and works closely with the SAMHSA GPO staff to ensure deadlines are met and that resources are used responsibility and effectively. Reports To: Chief Operating Officer *This position is grant-funded. Essential Functions: •Oversees the project activities of NAMI’s grant-funded STAR Center, including supervision, training and evaluation of project personnel. Ensures activities integrate with overall STAR Center and NAMI program goals and objectives. •Ensures full compliance with the terms of the CMHS National Consumer & Consumer Supporter Technical Assistance Centers grant, to include on-going communication, dialogue and reporting to the SAMHSA GPO on all project activities. •Documents and evaluates project activities, providing monthly, periodic and year-end programmatic and financial reports, as required. •Contributes to the formation, interpretation and promotion of policies related to improving mental health service delivery. •Coordinates, presents and/or participates in meetings, conferences, presentations representing NCCS-TACs STAR and NAMI. Disseminates tools, resources and information on mental health policy and other pertinent topics. •Works with consumers, cooperating services providers/ agencies and various stakeholders to improve policies and strategies in support of best practices and standards that help promote recovery and full integration of people with psychiatric disabilities in the community. Minimum Qualifications: •Minimum of seven to ten years working in mental health field serving in a supervisory or leadership capacity. •Demonstrated history of collaborative and strong program, budget and resource management. •Strong written and verbal communication skills. •Experience in leadership and implementation of consumer programs in the areas of cultural outreach and self-help adaptation, employment and training, community integration/ participation, political advocacy, and work with underserved populations. •Relevant research/programming experience in consumer self-help/self management approaches. •Experience in policy analysis and presentations to high-level policy makers and mental health stakeholders. •Must have extensive knowledge and sensitivity to a variety of issues affecting people living with mental illness. . •Position requires high degree of flexibility, leadership and interpersonal skills. Desired Qualifications: •Bilingual (English/Spanish) •Previous experience with grant management Education: •Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in psychology, public policy, organizational management or related field. |
