Manager, Governance & Operations - Arlington VA

Job Description
NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation’s voice on mental illness, a national organization including NAMI organizations in every state and in over 1100 local communities across the country who join together to meet the NAMI mission through advocacy, research, support, and education.

We currently have an opening for a Manager of Governance and Operations. This individual will be handle the management of day-to-day operations in support of NAMI’s capacity building efforts, particularly as they relate to chartering and affiliation. In addition, he or she will be responsible for the execution of operational procedures related to the management of NAMI’s capacity building efforts, particularly as they relate to chartering and affiliation.

Reports To: Senior Manager, Governance and Operations

Duties:

Management of NAMI’s Profile Center

-Manage structures and processes for effective use of Profile Center
-Manage accounts and access
-Provide training and technical assistance
-Generate weekly status reports and quarterly trend reports

Management of Status Tracking

-Manage data system structures and processes for effective tracking of as many as 1000 change processes simultaneously (currently managed through SharePoint)
-Ensure colleagues maintain current data on progress toward chartering and affiliation
-Trigger “next steps” for team members’ roles in chartering and affiliation
-Generate weekly status reports and quarterly trend reports

Management of Web Presence
-Serve as team content liaison, managing and maintaining currency of team-related web content
-Develop online modules for content transfer and training
-Recommend content additions, modifications, removal
-Ensure all links are current and active

Management of Tools and Resources

-Manage and maintain currency of changeable elements of all tools and resources (links, etc.)
-Assist with development of tools and resources to support chartering and affiliation
-Note and make recommendations for tools and resources based on fields’ demonstrated wants and needs, use trends, struggles, etc.

Gap analysis
-Assist in data assembly and preliminary gap analysis in preparation for full review for chartering or affiliation

Support and Technical Assistance

-Track inquiries and identify trends; make recommendations for tools and resources based on data
-Develop and implement technical assistance activities based on overarching trends
-Respond to telephone and email inquiries, handling where possible and triaging where appropriate

Coordination of colleague teams’ engagement in chartering and affiliation processes

Other duties as assigned…

Minimum Qualification:

-4 to 5 years experience in comparable area of work
-Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-Strong interpersonal skills and deep appreciation for volunteerism
-Experience with multi-level organizational structures
-Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
-Proficiency with Word, Excel, SharePoint; experience and skill with databases and reports
-Comfort with and willingness to gain expertise in whatever interface is required on NAMI web presence
-Grace under pressure and positive, “can do” attitude
Desired Qualifications:
-Knowledge of the nonprofit sector
-Experience with change management

Education: Bachelor’s degree
