Executive Director, NAMI Southeast MN - Rochester MN
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Southeast Minnesota’s mission is to improve the lives of individuals affected by mental illness through education, support, research, and advocacy. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the consistent achievement of NAMI Southeast Minnesota’s financial objectives to deliver our programs and services. This is a full-time, salaried position that does require some evening and weekend hours.
NAMI Southeast Minnesota is seeking an experienced professional to represent our affiliate. The Executive Director serves as the top administrator of the organization with responsibilities to oversee and implement the policies and procedures developed by the Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate shall have the knowledge and the personality to aggressively present the advocacy messages that best serve the families and individuals who receive mental health care throughout Southeast Minnesota. The candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be a consensus builder, a team player, and have a strong understanding of financial management and fund raising. The ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s degree, successful grant writing and fund raising experience, and previous supervisory and/or leadership experience. Proficiency with computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet programs, and accounting is necessary. Although not required, individuals with personal experience dealing with the issue of mental illness are encouraged to apply.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
•Represent NAMI SE-MN within the community through presentations, participation in appropriate committees, and by creating partnerships with other organizations within the community.
•In conjunction with the Board of Directors, develop and maintain all strategic planning that furthers the mission of NAMI SE-MN.
•Assure that the NAMI SE-MN financial system meets the highest accountability standards. Ensure that the financial system is managed within the budget guidelines established by the Board of Directors and be accountable to all funding sources.
•Manage the office staff including annual performance evaluations, goal setting, policy reviews, talent development, and compliance with appropriate employment and safety laws.
•Recruit and assist in training and utilization of volunteers who can help further the mission of NAMI Southeast Minnesota.
•Build and maintain a strong working relationship with NAMI Minnesota and NAMI National.
•Oversee official NAMI SE-MN publications and website content.
•Coordinate membership recruitment and retention efforts.
•Build ongoing (long-term) relationships with community stakeholders and partners.
•Coordinate annual volunteer recognition.
•Direct fundraising activities including Annual Walk for Research and Education, direct mail campaigns, and others as requested.
•Seek exposure for NAMI SE-MN through marketing initiatives, collaboration with other agencies, and media outlets such as newspaper, radio, and television.
•Track and report outcomes related to NAMI programs and grant activities.
