Senior Manager, Center for Excellence - Arlington VA
The Senior Manager, Center for Excellence, provides technical assistance, resources and tools needed by NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates to build organizational capacity and achieve the goals of the NAMI Standards of Excellence. These objectives will be met by working in coordination with grassroots leadership across targeted states and by collaborating with all staff teams at NAMI to provide resources and guidance to NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates.
Location: Office located in home, near to a major airport.
Reports To: Director, Center for Excellence
1. Provides consulting and technical assistance on best practices for successful nonprofit management, organizational development and governance across assigned NAMI State Organizations.
-Works with NAMI State Organizations to develop strong boards of directors and organizational leadership.
-Assists NAMI State Organizations in planning for affiliate support and development.
-Builds and maintains relationships with grassroots leaders by establishing regular telephone and e-mail contact and traveling to NAMI State Organizations as necessary for on-site technical assistance.
-Identifies needs and develops and implements training modules, webinars, presentations, templates and toolkits responsive to those needs and that are based on nonprofit management and governance best practices.
-Acts as a bridge between NAMI State Organization and NAMI Affiliate leaders to resources available at all departments of NAMI.
-Facilitates the flow of information between NAMI, NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates.
2. Works with NAMI colleagues to guide NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates through the chartering and affiliation processes required by the NAMI Standards of Excellence.
-Participates in teleconferences, webinars and on-site conferences to provide grassroots leadership with up-to-date information and resources on the NAMI Standards of Excellence.
-Works with the staff and board of directors of individual NAMI State Organizations to create a schedule and detailed plan for meeting the Standards of Excellence chartering requirements.
-Assists NAMI State Organizations develop individualized plans for working with NAMI Affiliates to complete the affiliation process.
-Develops tools on the chartering and affiliation processes and achieving the Standards of Excellence.
-Maintains critical chartering and affiliation data for NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates.
3. Provides support to the NAMI Advisory Councils as directed, promoting inter-council collaboration and networking.
-7 to 10 years of broad experience in organizational development, nonprofit management, component/chapter relations, strategic planning and communications.
-Ability to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of organizational programs and initiatives.
-Excellent writing skills, with the ability to translate thoughts, ideas and concepts into understandable, executable written plans or tools.
-Ability to follow-through and meet deadlines on assigned projects.
-Willingness and ability to work as part of a fast-moving, results-oriented team.
-Exhibits initiative in anticipating and solving programs.
-Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
-Capable of setting priorities when multiple demands are present.
-Ability to work with grassroots volunteers.
-Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office skills are necessary. (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. SharePoint a plus.)
-Knowledge of NAMI a plus.
Education and Background:
-Bachelorís Degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Social or Human Sciences or related discipline.
