Executive Assistant to the Criminal Justice Project Director - Woburn MA
The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Massachusetts (NAMI Mass) is a nonprofit grassroots education and advocacy group dedicated to improving the quality of life for people affected by mental illness.
NAMI Mass is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Criminal Justice Project Director to provide administrative and project management support to the Project Director. The position is full-time and will be located in the greater Boston/Brookline area.
NAMI Mass has recently launched an exciting initiative to develop a statewide strategy to train local police departments on responding to people with mental illness. This initiative is taking a comprehensive, multi-pronged approach to by engaging all relevant stakeholders in the legislature, state and county government, the media, academia and representatives from the law enforcement and mental health community.
The Executive Assistant will assist the Criminal Justice Project Director in all administrative aspects of the project plus as much research and substantive assistance as time allows. The salary for this full time job will be in the range of $30,000 depending on experience plus we offer a generous benefit package.
Specific responsibilities include:
•Managing new Project office, including: developing filing systems; setting up scheduling/calendar systems; ordering furniture and equipment; establishing reference library; and, other management systems to promote efficiency and responsiveness.
•Providing office support to the Project, including calendar management; meeting planning; answering phones; ordering supplies; primary research; and following-up on meeting tasks.
•Providing support to Project Director, including staff support of the Advisory Group on Crisis Intervention and Diversion, including drafting of agenda; preparing hand-outs; scheduling and other logistics; minutes recording; follow-up on assigned tasks; and, preparation of reports.
•Providing other administrative responsibilities as needed as the Project progresses and grows.
•Developing and maintain web page on Project.
•Researching assignments relating to law enforcement response to mental illness.
•Meetings with law enforcement and community mental health professionals as part of fact-gathering.
•Other research and substantive work to the extent possible as the Project progresses and grows.
•Experience working in busy, high energy office environment.
•Experience in adapting to rapidly changing environments.
•Self-starter, able to apply direction to novel situations
•Excellent computer skills including facility with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint.
•Strong verbal, writing and editing skills.
•Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
•Bachelors or Master’s Degree in human services, law, criminal justice or related field.
•Knowledge of mental health and/or criminal justice systems preferred.
•Persons with lived experience a plus.
