Using NAMI Logo In Foreign Language Documents

When using the NAMI logo in documents that are in Spanish or other foreign languages, keep the name, “National Alliance on Mental Illness,” in English.  It’s part of the integrity of this three-element graphic identity: the circle-shaped seal, the NAMI acronym, and the spell-out of the acronym in a line underneath them.  The reason for this rule is simple: The NAMI name is an acronym of four English words.  To translate them into other languages in the logo itself would be to split off that third element of the basic graphic identity inherent in the logo, thus would be a form of dilution.

However, “National Alliance on Mental Illness” may be translated into another language within the document itself—-not in the logo area—-in a prominent place on the banner or header of a particular document.
