Susan McKeown Concert Exploring Mental Illness

Grammy winning vocalist Susan McKeown had melancholy on her mind several years ago. She decided to record an album, Singing in the Dark, exploring creativity and mental illness.

Listen to a video in which McKeown’ talks about the making of the album. The album takes lyrics from poets who wrote through a lens of depression, mania and substance abuse. Its first single is “A Woman Like That (Her Kind),” reflecting Anne Sexton's poem ‘Her Kind.”.

Many of the songs can be heard on McKeown's MySpace page. A portion of sales from the album will benefit NAMI.
