Scholarship Tips and Information

Scholarships are a great way to pay for collegeóitís free money, usually with few strings attached, that you can often use toward any expenses you accrue while attending college.
 
Sometimes as a result of your mental health condition, you may need to register for fewer classes or you may need to drop some classes during a semester. This may impact which scholarships you are eligible for or scholarships you have already received, that require you to be a full-time student. See if you can work with your school to make exceptions if your mental health condition impacts your ability to meet the requirements of a scholarship.

Eli Lilly & Company / Moving Lives Forward Reintegration Scholarship 

Award Amount: Varies
Number of Awards: Varies
Description: Eli Lilly and Company provides annual awards for young adults diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder who are enrolled in high school equivalency studies, a trade or vocational school, or a two or four-year college or university. Applicants must be U.S citizens, currently receiving medical treatment for one of the above conditions and be actively involved in rehabilitative or reintegration efforts. An essay must be included with the application packet.

The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Scholarship Award

Award Amount: $10,000
Number of Awards: Varies
Description: The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Scholarship is available to high school seniors who have an identified learning disability and are pursuing an undergraduate degree. Candidates for this award should be committed to completing a college degree, demonstrate perseverance, understand how living with a learning disability affects oneís life and advocate and serve as a role model for others who are living with a learning disability.

ChairScholar Foundation 

Award Amount: $20,000
Number of Awards: Varies
Description: The ChairScholars scholarship is available to high school seniors and college freshmen who are living with a profound physical challenge.

P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship 

Award Amount: $1,500
Number of Awards: Varies
Description: The P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship is available to high school seniors who have a language related learning disability, demonstrate a need for financial aid and have career plans in visual art.

Pilot International Foundation 

Award Amount: Varies
Number of Awards: Varies
Description: The Pilot International Foundation sponsors three scholarship programs. Candidates for these scholarships must already be or preparing for careers working with people with disabilities or brain-related disorders. 
 
INCIGHT Education Scholarship 

Award Amount: $750 that is renewable for four years
Number of Awards: Varies
Description: INCIGHT Education Scholarships are offered to students who have a documented disability.

Through the Looking Glass Scholarship 

Award Amount: $1000
Number of Awards: Varies
Description: Scholarships for high school students and college students who have at least one parent living with a disability.

American Association on Health and Disability 

Award Amount: $1000
Number of Awards: Varies
Description: The American Association on Health and Disability Scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students who have a documented disability and are pursuing a career in public health, disability studies, health promotion or a field related to disability and health.
