Senators Press for Moratorium on Medicaid Case Management Rules

February 15, 2008

A bipartisan coalition of Senators is pushing for a delay in regulations issued by the Bush Administration that would severely undermine the ability of states to use Medicaid to fund critical case management services.  Senators Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Norm Coleman (R-MN) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) were successful yesterday in adding their proposal for a moratorium on these regulations to a separate bill reforming the Indian Health Service (S 1200).  Their amendment would impose a moratorium on the Medicaid Targeted Case Management (TCM) rules through April 1, 2009.  Their amendment is identical to a separate bill (S 2578) introduced earlier this month.

Act Now!

NAMI strongly supports this effort to impose a moratorium on the Medicaid TCM regulations.  Advocates are strongly encouraged to contact their Senators using NAMI’s Legislative Action Center and urge support for retaining the Mikulski-Coleman-Klobuchar Amendment.
