Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Mental Health Resources

NAMI kicked off our efforts to increase inclusion and support of this community with a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) Listening Session held at the NAMI 2007 annual convention. The resulting proceedings report outlines the specific goals and recommendations set during this discussion. A Mental Health Recovery and Community Integration Guide for GLBTQI Individuals: What You Need to Know- This 12-page colorful booklet covers a range of key issues in mental health recovery and community integration such as treatment and rehabilitation, financial support, housing, employment, and peer support with specific information to address the unique needs of GLBTQI individuals embedded throughout.

GLBTQI Mental Health: Recommendations for Policies and Services- a companion publication to the booklet, A Mental Health Recovery and Community Integration Guide for GLBTQI Individuals: What You Need to Know, providing important considerations for service providers and policy makers, including an assessment of the barriers faced by GLBTQI individuals seeking mental health care, recommendations for practical strategies to address these barriers and a resource list.
