Remembering Wayne Fenton

The NAMI family is shocked and deeply saddened by the the tragic death of Dr. Wayne Fenton. Wayne was the Director of the Schizophrenia Research Branch at NIMH. He was beaten to death on Sunday in his private office by a young man who he was seeing as a second opinion consultation for a colleague. Wayne was integral part of the NAMI family, having been recognized as an Exemplary Psychiatrist and a key member of NAMI's Scientific Advisory Council. More importantly, he was an extraordinary individual and humanitarian, as well as an excellent blues guitarist. I know the entire NAMI family joins me in extending condolences to his family and his colleagues at NIMH.
