In May, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will be mailing every Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), veterans’ disability beneficiary an extra one-time payment of $250. This payment will be mailed separately from each beneficiary’s May 2009 monthly check.
For beneficiaries whose cash benefits are administered through a Representative Payee, the Representative Payee will receive the check on the beneficiary’s behalf. It is important to note that this extra check will:
Given the volume of extra payments being sent out, SSA is expected to most of the month of May to get the checks distributed. SSA expects all of the extra payments to be disbursed by June 4.
