Senate Finance Committee Votes in Favor of Family Opportunity Act

On Wednesday, September 10th, the Senate Finance Committee voted in favor of The Family Opportunity Act (FOA-S. 622) and passed the legislation out of committee. FOA restores hope to families with children with serious mental illnesses by allowing states to offer Medicaid to children with severe disabilities living in families with incomes up to 250% of poverty level.

Thank you to everyone who contacted their Senators on the Finance Committee and asked for their vote in favor of the bill. FOA now moves to the Senate floor for consideration.

Action Needed

We urge you to contact your Senator and ask them to contact Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN), and ask him to immediately bring the FOA bill to the Senate floor for a vote. We also urge you to ask your Senator to vote in favor of the legislation and to oppose any amendments that would weaken the bill.
