I am 32. I was diagnosed with bipolar I at the age of 24. Until that point I had been diagnosed as clinically depressed. My mania took me far and wide. Credit card bills, trips to other states; I was invincible.
It was a fight with my parents, my friends and complete isolation. As I've grown with this illness I've come to rely on my mother and my doctor for support. They're my support when I need to talk. But, I also rely on my pets to keep me here. They rely on me. They really have been my saving grace.
You're not alone in this fight even when there's a negative bank account and a chair through the back door. The sun will come up tomorrow. You just have to ask for help.
That makes all the difference.
