2008 NAMI Convention: Day Two Highlights

Tomorrowland Today:
Making Recovery Real

The 2008 NAMI National Convention continued today in Orlando, FL.

On day two, NAMI family members, consumers, providers, and advocates rallied around common interests and goals though a series of Special Interest Networking Meetings, such as:

Meanwhile, a Special Needs planning seminar addressed long-term financial strategies for families living with mental illness.

The highlight of the afternoon was the opening plenary: Treatment Not Jail. Judge Steven Leifman was the featured speaker.

Other events included a workshop on the importance of peer-run services for system transformation, presented by the STAR Center, the opening of the exhibit hall, and the always entertaining open mic talent showcase.
