Lost cases: Recovered Lives: Suitcases From a State Hospital Attic

On display at the New York State Museum  are 12 suitcases; examples of hundreds that were left behind in an abandoned building. The building belonged to Willard Psychiatric Center, a now-closed facility about 65 miles southwest of Syracuse, NY. The exhibit: "Lost Cases, Recovered Lives: Suitcases from a State Hospital Attic" reveals the private lives of 12 individuals who were sent to the hospital in its day. Read the Village Voice  article about this powerful exhibit, What They Left Behind, written by Jennifer Gonnerman.
