Children's Registration FAQs

Is there any program for children and adolescents at the convention?

For the first time this year, we will be offering a special program for children and adolescents aged 10 – 17 at the NAMI National Convention.  The program is a mix of educational and fun activities and is designed for children who have a sibling and/or a parent with a mental illness.  There is a special place on the convention registration form for you to sign your child up for the program.

My child has a mental illness.  Should I sign her/him up for the children’s program?

The program is designed for children and adolescents aged 10 – 17 who have a brother, sister, or parent with a mental illness.  It is not designed for children who themselves have a mental illness, although these children may participate in the program if you feel certain your child will be completely comfortable in the informal environment.  If you sign your child up, please be aware that this is a full-day program for two days.  Clinical supervision will not be offered.  If you have questions or concerns about the children’s program, please contact the NAMI Convention Department at 703/542-7600
