NAMI Consumer Council Chair: Rick Huber
I was diagnosed in 1982 with schizophrenia, had another episode the following year. I continued to work until 1991 when after two additional episodes I was able to receive SSD benefits. I am currently a single parent of a 17 year old son. After attending a Leadership Academy in 1995, I have been active as a Consumer Advocate, as a member of the Idaho State Planning Council, PAIMI Advisory Council, and numerous other activities. Because of previous experiences with seclusion and restraint, severe reactions to medications, ect., I have been promoting the need for consumer choice as a necessary part of treatment. I currently serve as Chair of the Consumer Council.
