NAMI Consumer Council Member at Large: Denver Nobles
My name is Denver Nobles. In 1992, my wife and I became members of NAMI Acadiana (now Lafayette). This led me to being trained as a volunteer for B.R.I.D.G.E.S. (1995). I started doing support groups, education classes and trainings for both. I was trained to do Legislative Advocacy at the State level. My having been employed from date of being diagnosed, my work ethic was my Recovery. Serving on the B.R.I.D.G.E.S. Consumer Program Committee allowed success in the Mental Health Community. I am a Certified Specialist, CPASS Trainer, NAMILa Programs coordinator (in training), Consumer on NAMILA State Board, and NAMI National CCEC. I have served on the Mental Health Reform Coalition, Mental Health Planning Council, Mental Health Review Commission, SILC, P&A, PAIMI Council(Chair), MPP/Ticket to Work, Region IV RAC (current Chair) and Federal SSA Disability Training. I helped start the Statewide Consumer Initiative for 7 years known as Meaningful Minds of La. This is my volunteerism on everyone's behalf to make a difference in Mental Health in Louisiana.
