The Restoration Project

There is something inherently uplifting about restoring furniture.  It speaks to renewal, as well as restoration.  It requires patience and a sense of sequence.  Restoring furniture is a craft to be learned with each piece.  For some, there are striking parallels between the restoration of a piece of furniture and the journey towards wellness and recovery.  Just as each piece of furniture is different, so too is each person's process of recovery.  At the Restoration Project, through mentoring, people living with mental illness are able to work to restore furniture, and to work on their own recovery, too.
