Executive Director - Columbus OH

Job Description
NAMI FC, the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Franklin County (Columbus, Ohio) is seeking an experienced leader with passion and vision to improve the lives of family members, friends and persons affected by mental illness in serving as the Executive Director. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to build on the established strengths and mission of the organization in the areas of education, community outreach, support, referral and advocacy on behalf of people suffering from severe mental illness and their families.

The Executive Director will work with the Board to ensure that the organization’s financial security, management of staff, volunteers and programming is implemented in an outstanding manner so as to achieve the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.

Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills; be an effective public speaker; be a good listener; have applied successful fundraising experience and experience in program research and development; and demonstrate management and staff leadership skills. Knowledge of severe mental illness and its impact on individuals and family members is important, as is the ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and a diverse array of community partners.

Qualifications include: A minimum of three years experience with fundraising, including events, donor solicitation and grant writing with foundations, corporations, government and other funding sources; a minimum of three years supervisory and leadership experience including personnel administration, managing a non-profit organization, working collaboratively with committees and being responsible to a board of directors. A Bachelor’s Degree (ideally a Masters Degree) in public or business administration, human services, social work, psychology or a related field is strongly preferred, as is experience in nonprofit management. Mental health experience and/or knowledge of the mental health system in Columbus, is desired. Dependable transportation is a must as is experience with Word, Excel, Access, Publisher and QuickBooks!

Duties of the Executive Director include, but are not limited to:

• Implementation of the strategic goals and objectives
• Membership Development
• Coordination of Educational Classes and Support Groups –
• Managing NAMIWALKS Annual Fundraiser
• Community Relations
• Organizing NAMI FC Monthly Meetings
• Managing finances and day to day operations of the organization including supervision of staff and volunteers
• Providing Advocacy
