Help Us Improve Re-entry Support for People with Serious Mental Illness
A new bill is being introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives to help ensure that people re-entering the community can have ready access to the benefits they need to survive.

Extra Cash Payments for SSI and SSDI Beneficiaries Expected in May
In May 2009, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will be mailing every Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), veterans’ disability beneficiary an extra one-time payment of $250. This payment will be mailed separately from each beneficiary’s May 2009 monthly check.

NAMI Comments on Social Security Quick Disability Determination (QDD) Process
NAMI offered the following comments on the Social Security Administration's proposed guidelines of the Quick Disability Determination (QDD) process. The QDD was first proposed in July 2005 as an alternative process designed to provide a prompt disability decision to those claimants who are the most severely disabled.
