Mental Illness Awareness Week, Oct. 6-12, 2013

Resource Toolkit

  • MIAW community activities depend on advance promotion and media relations. NAMI's Public Relations and Marketing Tool Kit offers comprehensive advice and tools.

  • Remember to plan ahead. Many NAMI affiliates begin planning in June, but some events take longer, Press releases, op-eds and letters to editors should be submitted at least two weeks before an event, not counting other publicity.

  • NAMI's Mental illness: Facts and Numbers fact sheet is a standard reference used in preparing MIAW materials, along with fact sheets for specific diagnoses.

  • Bulk copies of NAMI brochures and other items for use with events can be purchased online through the NAMI Store.
