Depression Podcast Series Features New Episodes with Latino and Asian American Populations Focus
As a member of the Depression is Real Coalition, formed in 2006, NAMI works to provide important public education around the true nature of depression, and the important message of hope of recovery. The coalition’s podcast series, The Down & Up Show, features individuals living with the illness and other experts on depression in short recordings accessible through the coalition's Web site. NAMI was proud to contribute culture-specific considerations to this collection with two new episodes in November about depression among Latino and Asian American communities:
- Down & Up Show #60: Depresión Entre Latinos / Depression Among Latinos, the first Down & Up Show recorded in Spanish, features Margarita Alegría, Ph.D., director of the Center for Multicultural Mental Health Research, Harvard Medical School and is hosted by Majosé Carrasco, director of the NAMI Multicultural Action Center.
- Down & Up Show #61: Asian Americans and Depression features expert speaker Maggie Luo, coordinator of the Chinese American Mental Health Outreach Program at NAMI New Jersey, and Ken Duckworth, M.D., Medical Director of NAMI, as the host.
