NAMI National Board of Directors
2007-2010
Kevin Sullivan
Kevin Sullivan served as Connecticut’s lieutenant governor from 2004-07 and in the state Senate from 1987-2006, including four terms as its top leader. Working closely with NAMI Connecticut and the "Keep the Promise Coalition," he enacted the state’s comprehensive parity legislation and worked to strengthen collaboration and oversight by creating a community mental health strategy board. Working with the governor, he also organized a broad-based, state-wide community mental health cabinet that successfully advocated for increased state funding, including ACT teams, prison and juvenile justice diversion, supportive housing with wrap-around services, CIT expansion and a state-wide, online, "one stop" information site. Mr. Sullivan's advocacy for mental health care has been recognized by the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association. He is an attorney, public policy consultant and president of the Children's Museum in West Hartford, Conn.
