NAMI National Board of Directors
2007-2010

Clarice Raichel Clarice Raichel

A native of Southwest Louisiana, Raichel has served as NAMI Southwest Louisiana’s executive director since 2003. Her affiliation with NAMI began in 1996 following her son’s diagnosis with schizophrenia. She has served on both the NAMI SWLA and NAMI Louisiana state board.

In 2006, NAMI SWLA received the national organization’s “Affiliate of the Year” award.  Working with law enforcement agencies, Raichel helped create a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program in Calcasieu Parish—the first in the area. In addition, she was instrumental in securing a HUD grant for construction of the Maison d’Amis apartment complex for persons with mental illness. NAMI SWLA also was the first affiliate in the state to host a “NAMIWalks” walkathon.

Rachel has a Masters of Education degree from McNeese State University.

She is married with one son and one daughter.
