Highlights of our 2009 Accomplishments:

Sharing Hope with African American Congregations

Recovery for All
December 2009

The Multicultural Action Center first announced the availability of a new education and outreach tool for African American faith communities in March. Sharing Hope: Understanding Mental Health was released to NAMI states and affiliates around the country including eight sites selected as grant program evaluators. This program includes a step-by-step guide for NAMI states and affiliates reach out and partner with African American congregations to provide an overview presentation of three serious mental illnesses (depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia), treatment and recovery from the perspective of people of faith who have experienced these illnesses. This program will be further rolled out to additional grant sites in 2010.
