NAMI CAMPAIGN STIGMA BUSTERS EMAIL ALERT Update

NAMI Campaign to End Discrimination
April 22, 1999.

Ms. Stella March

Congratulations!  Your letters have reached their target-Judge Mills Lane,
star of the self-titled, syndicated courtroom television program.  Lane (a
former boxing referee, attorney, and district judge) made some offensive,
inappropriate, and inaccurate comments to a gentleman recently appearing on
his show regarding the use of antidepressant medication.

I am glad to report that after writing to the show's production company,
NAMI received a call from the producer saying that Judge Lane will make an
on-air apology for his remarks.  NAMI will post the date of the show
featuring the judge's apology on the e-mail alert page as soon as we receive
it.

Meanwhile, thanks again for all of your support in reducing the instances of
harmful language and portrayals that perpetuate stigma against those
affected by serious mental illnesses.

New! Receive stigma alerts via e-mail! Click here to learn how you can join NAMI's stigma alert list to receive regular stigma alerts.

We look forward to hearing from you!
