As we come to the close of another year, the NAMI Multicultural Action Center wishes to acknowledge and thank our colleagues and partners for your continued support. We look forward to our continued partnership to ensure progess in eliminating mental health disparities and improving mental health access and quality for all.
Highlights of our 2008 Accomplishments
There are so many things to look back on in 2008 and celebrate including the establishment of Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, congress passing mental health parity legislation, and the excitement of a newly elected administration that brings the hope of many more important changes to improve the lives of all affected by mental illness. NAMI Parents and Teachers as Allies Monograph Coming Soon in Spanish
In order to better meet the needs of schools that serve large Latino populations, NAMI has translated the Parents and Teachers as Allies monograph into Spanish. The monograph, which outlines the signs of early-onset mental illness in children and adolescents seen at home and in the school setting, has been widely popular among school professionals, NAMI leaders, and families. Unclaimed Children Revisited:The Status of Children's Mental Health Policy in the United States
This National Center for Children in Poverty report is based on a study evaluating how child mental health policies across the country are responding to actual need, and included measures on how well states provide needed culturally- and linguistically-competent services within youth and family systems.
