Our next Kenosha NAMI support groups will be on Thursday, September 25, and Thursday, October 9th, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on the corner of 88th St and 39th Ave.  We will have 3 support groups at 6:00.  One support group is for people that are coping with a mental illness and a second support group is for the family members and friends of those coping with a mental illness.  We will also be having our support group for teenagers at the same 6:00 PM starting time.  A program has not been planned yet to follow either of these meetings.

Everyone is welcome at our support groups and meetings.

We will also be offering the NAMI Family To Family Class this fall. The classes will begin on Tuesday, September 23rd and run through Tuesday, December 9th. The classes will be held at the Kenosha County Human Services Building, 8600 Sherdian Rd Entrance D, Kenosha. They will begin at 6:30 and run until 9:00 PM each Tuesday. The course is designed specifically for parents, spouses, teen-age and adult children and significant others of persons with severe and persistent mental illness. It covers the major mental illnesses, coping skills such as handling crisis and relapse, basic information about medications, listening skills and communication techniques, problem solving skills, recovery and rehabilitation, and self-care around worry and stress. For more information or to register please call Kenosha NAMI at 262-652-3606.

We will also be having our annual fundraiser on October 10th and 11th. Volunteers are needed to collect in front of stores. Please call our NAMI Kenosha number, 652-3606, to volunteer.
