About NAMI of Cheyenne
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a grassroots, family and consumer, self-help, support, education and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with severe mental illnesses. Severe mental illnesses are biologically based brain disorders that can profoundly disrupt a person’s ability to think, feel, and relate to others and their environment. NAMI of Cheyenne serves the consumers, their families and friends in the Cheyenne Wyoming area with mental health education and support.
NAMI of Cheyenne holds educational and support group meetings, the first and third Thursdays of each month, respectively.
Educational meetings usually include a presentation by a mental health professional or a Hollywood movie with a mental health theme, and normally last about an hour--two hours or more if a movie is being shown. Check the latest newsletter to see what is scheduled for upcoming educational meetings. The public is invited and all those interested are encouraged to attend.
Support group meetings are informal, open meetings for family members, friends and consumers. Support group meetings are scheduled for 90 minutes.
NAMI of Cheyenne publishes a bi-monthly newsletter. It also conducts Family-to-Family Education Program training annually, provided there are enough enrollees.
