                                           ACTION ALERT--SAVE THE DATE

                                           Mental Health Coalition is having a

                                             Press Conference/Event 

                                                at the State House on 
                                             Tuesday, December 2, 2008 
                                       In Nurses Hall or the Grand Staircase 
                                                         at 1:00 PM 
                   to protest the cuts to DMH 
and to announce that each day representatives from a program, consumers and family members will go the Governorʼs office and present a petition asking that the funding be restored.
 
Please join us. Bring family members and consumers who are willing to speak with the media.  We need family members and consumers willing to go the Governorʼs office (Reception area) simply to drop off a petition every day starting Tuesday, Dec 2nd and continuing through the week.                                                                                                                             

                                        SAVE THE DATE:    DECEMBER 10, 2008  

         SPEAKERS PROGRAM-- 7 - 9 PM, CAPE CODDER HOTEL, HYANNIS, MA             

                     DR. KENNETH DUCKWORTH, Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School; Medical Director, NAMI National & Vinfen Corporation; Board Member/American Association of Community Psychiatrists will speak on:  “A NAMI Perspective on Wellness in People and the System”.  Topics covered will be Medical Risk Factors, Common & Preventable;  Barriers to Change/ Individuals & the System; NAMI Policy Developments / Promoting Wellness; and NAMI “Grading the State Report” Methodology/Upcoming 2009

                     DR. MATTHEW RUBLE, Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School; Director of Advanced Psychopharmacology, The Cambridge Health Alliance, Cambridge Hospital will speak on "New Medications for Serious Mental Illnesses:  Implications for Families and People with Mental Illnesses".  Topics to be discussed are Current Psychopharmacological Options/Benefits and Risks; Strategies to Help prevent these Risks; and Future Psychopharmacological Options. 

                 There is no cost to attend this program.
