NAMI Johnson County
At least 79 WALK teams joined us for our 6th Annual NAMI WALK of Johnson County! Activities on WALK Day began at 9:00 a.m. and included performances by the Folk & Mirrors Trio – Ann Aschoff, John Kramer and John Bayless; a performance by the Kahraman Dance Studio Dance Ensemble and then warm-up exercises to start the WALK led by Wendy Stegall and Marie Wilkes; and the Old Capitol City Roller Girls who demonstrated their skating skills and led off the WALK. There were Kidz Zone activities including Gunny the Clown with balloons. There was a program at 9:30 a.m. in which Miss Iowa 2009 Anne Michael Langguth spoke and played the National Anthem on her violin. Also speaking were Miss Johnson County 2010 Emily Slavens, County Attorney Janet Lyness and U.S. Representative David Loebsack. At 10:00 a.m. the WALK began, led by Old Capitol City Roller Girls and followed by Miss Iowa 2009 Anne Michael Langguth, Miss Johnson County 2010 Emily Slavens and her WALK Team “MUST or BUST”, Family Team Chair Angela O’Brien and her WALK Team “Square Pegs”, Representatives of Business Team Chair Hills Bank and Trust Company: Roger Reilly, Brad Langguth, and Frank Juvan; U. S. Representative David Loebsack; and Johnson County Attorney Janet Lyness and the County Attorney’s Office WALK Team. Nic Arp performed to welcome the WALKers back at the end of the WALK.
