NAMI Long Island/Queens Area Walk We're changing the face of mental illness – one step at a time! What a great day! This year’s Jones Beach walk was truly a celebration. The spirit was infectious as we greeted long time supporters, made new friends, and congratulated one another on the real strides we’re making in changing the face of mental illness. Thanks to all those who came, despite the threat of rain - at least 4,000 of you – it was a really special walk. Here’s some EXCITING NEWS!!! So many of you did such a wonderful job of reaching out to friends, relatives, co-workers, students, businesses, and others asking for their support, that we are within striking distance of meeting our goal of $200,000. So keep pushing! Remember, every time we speak openly about mental illness and share our stories we chip away at that wall of stigma that keeps so many from getting the help and support they need.
