Okay, here’s the deal.
I’m an avid advocate for NAMI. An organization I had not heard of until way into my craziness. And I do not use that term loosely. According to Webster’s dictionary definition - that is exactly how I feel at times.
I wish it had been sooner. I would have made better life decisions. The resources NAMI provides me have helped me be a better wife. A better mother. A better friend. A better employee.
A better person.
I now work hard in advocacy for the mentally ill. We all have our stories. Unique stories. But for certain, a common thread bonds us all – the need for a more compassionate society.
With one in four person’s challenged with mental disorders in their lifetime – chances are likely you’ll be supporting a family member, friend, co-worker or even yourself.
