A message from Teddi:
Dear Friends,
Welcome to my personal web page for NAMIWalks for the Mind of America.
I am proud to be a NAMI member and a part of the North County Inland Team "We Are Family." I welcome you to join me in making this year's NAMIWalk a success.
I have created this fundraising page because NAMI, and the work they do, is very important to me. I have struggled with mental illness throughout much of my life. I was diagnosed at the age of 27 with Bipolar Disorder and my illness has had an impact not only on my life, but also that of my children, significant others, friends, and even my neighbors and coworkers.
Most people know someone with a mental illness - a friend, a family member or maybe they themselves are affected. One in five people will be treated for a biological brain disorder at some point in life. If you or someone you care about is affected by mental illness, than you understand how important NAMI is.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a non-profit, grassroots organization founded more than 25 years ago by families affected by mental illness, determined to fight stigma, and to create a system of recovery for individuals living with mental illness.
NAMI is a three-tiered organization, working at the national, state and local levels to provide support, education, and advocacy to individuals affected by mental illness and their families. Today, NAMI is a presence in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, with more than 230,000 members and 1,200 affiliated organization.
NAMI is a 501(c)3 charity and any donation you make to support my participation in this event is tax deductible. NAMI has been rated by Worth magazine as among the top 100 charities "most likely to save the world" and has been given an "A" rating by The American Institute of Philanthropy for efficient and effective use of charitable dollars.
Some of the programs offered to me by NAMI North County Inland are support groups such as Peer to Peer and Family to Family, in addition to monthly speaker meetings which educate those with a mental illness, family members and caregivers.
Donating to me through this page is easy, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. Any amount will make a difference for NAMI, but please try to give generously.
Both NAMI and I appreciate your donation. Financial support that NAMI receives from the Walk is used for its programs that increase mental health recovery and reduce stigma.
Thank you for your support.
