A message from Donald:
Welcome to our personal web page for NAMIWalks for the Mind of America. Joan and I have created this page because NAMI, and the work they do, is important to our family.
As most of you know, Joan and I lost our wonderful daughter, Ann, to the terrible disease of depression in January. For several years, Ann's depression was mild and she lived a normal life. Ann was a beautiful, smart, loving, compassionate, wity and fun loving young woman. However, four years ago, her depression worsened and she was also diagnosed as bi-polar with acute anxiety and her world began to fall apart.
Ann had the best doctors, hospitals and therapy. Also the loving support of her husband, Joe, her family and her many friends, but her mental illness continued to rob her of her spirit and her identity. Her pain was so overwhelming that on January 4, her 41st birthday, she took her own life. We can only hope she finally found the peace that eluded her here.
In her memory, we will be participating in the San Diego area walk on April 19 and we would appreciate any donation you can make to help sponsor us.
Donating to us through this page is easy, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me and Joan on the walk in San Diego. Any amount you give will make a difference for NAMI and for the millions of Americans afflicted with some form of mental illness.
Thanks very much for your support.
