What a great Walk! On Saturday October 3, 2009 NAMI Virginia held its 4th annual NAMIWALKS Virginia for The Mind of America!

Here is an update from our Northern Virginia Affiliate on their Awareness Walk held on October 3 in Vienna, VA!
Despite weather forecast predicting rain, we were greeted with an
astoundingly clear, blue sky.
Starbucks donated plenty of hot coffee and together we enjoyed bagels, and fresh fruit before the walk. After a brief gathering to thank the many wonderful volunteers and walkers, we strolled and talked and laughed and cried and took pictures of each other along the paved paths throughout the beautiful botanical gardens. The sidewalk chalk-marked path led us along a pond brimming with life, through gardens showcasing native plants and under mature, shady trees.
We welcomed park visitors and many were very excited to learn that such a wonderful
organization as NAMI existed. We passed out brochures and made new friends.
Everyone had a lot of fun and we all look forward to next year's walk!
We are excited about the great work our team did with fund raising and congratulate everyone on their efforts! We'd also like to thank those who didn't participate in fund raising but came out to share in the friendship and beautiful day.
