NAMI Riverside/San Bernardino County
The 4th Annual NAMIWALK for the Mind of America was a real success. We had a crowd of 1500 people and over 70 WALK TEAMS. The day was a beautiful sunny day and the weather was perfect
Darrell Mansfield our Honorary Chair was there and he entertained us with his talent by playing the blues, and his harmonica. He was wonderful to listen to. Made the day so much more enjoyable.
We received another $1000.00 sponsor donation t from Abbott Laboratory in Temecula. Its never too late to become a sponsor.
We have 60 days from the WALK date to add money to your team. All in attendance really worked hard to make the day a success. We had a team to assist with the WALKERS on the trail that may get too hot.
Thanks to all you WALKERS for fighting for the cause and making a difference in your community. We expect for NAMI to do some wonderful things in the future.
We hope to have a Family to Family teacher training in the Riverside/San Bernardino area within the next 6 months. This way we will have more teachers that can get the word out through this wonderful 12 week course NAMI provides for free.
We appreciate all the support we received at the WALK and throughout the year from Riverside County Mental Health dept and the San Bernardino Department of Behavioral Health. Both of these County agencies understand the value of NAMI and are to be commended for their support.
We had our own Theresa Bullock talk at the WALK about the Frontline program that she is heading up in the Riverside/San Bernardino area. This is a program for all Veterans, active military and their families. The program will be a collaborative effort with NAMI and other community partners and the VA to assist our Veterans and active military and their families in getting the support they need. There will be support groups which discuss topics like PTSD and other disorders which are related to military duty.
We thank you again for the great support you all showed us by coming out and WALKING. Some of you were not able to attend and we appreciate the support you give to NAMI and look forward to seeing you next year.
The date for next year is November 6th 2010 so mark your calendars now.
