Dr. Ken Duckworth, the Chief Medical Officer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) served as an advisory board member and on-camera expert for the new Apple TV+ series, The Me You Can’t See, produced by Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry. The six-part documentary series aims to tackle stigma around mental health and shed light on treatment options. Dr. Duckworth appeared in multiple segments of the series, alongside high-profile guests such as Lady Gaga and Glenn Close.

Dr. Duckworth discusses how advocacy and education can empower people from feelings of helplessness to becoming agents of change. As a consultant, he worked off camera with the show’s staff to help them develop the content for the show.

"I also got to connect with a group of international experts and enjoyed learning from them." Duckworth said. "They all know and respect NAMI, even in New Zealand. I had hoped for years that NAMI’s incredible work would be on such a major platform."

The series is very in line with NAMI’s vision of openness, connection, family engagement and access to the best treatments, Duckworth said. NAMI resources, such as the HelpLine, are mentioned in the series. "It was a great honor and pleasure to represent our organization and mission," Duckworth said.
