Lisa Carchedi, MD, MS C-IAYT, is a member of the NAMI Board of Directors, and a psychiatrist at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health System and owns a private yoga therapy practice in Bel Air, MD. Lisa is a member of NAMI Harford County.
Lisa found NAMI when creating Team AWESOME for the NAMIWalks in Austin, TX. She served on the NAMI Austin board and educated medical students and residents about NAMI. Lisa hopes to help NAMI gain greater recognition among all types of mental health providers, but especially wants to bring NAMI’s message to all primary care and ER settings.
Lisa is an ABPN board certified general psychiatrist as well as a certified yoga therapist. She is a fellow with the American Psychiatric Association (APA). She received NAMI’s Exemplary Psychiatrist award in 2019 and has received numerous teaching awards in the past as well as meritorious service medals during her time in the US Army. She has co-authored several articles about Team Based Learning (TBL).
Lisa earned her undergraduate degree in journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park. She received her medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV and her Master of Science in Yoga Therapy from Maryland University of Integrative Health.
During the 2019-2020 Board term, Lisa serves on the Development and Planning Committees.
