Before joining NAMI, Christine Allen was assistant editor to one of the country’s top ghostwriters. She managed and edited 40+ high-profile books for some of the country's leading political figures and business moguls. Lived experience and a passion for helping others brought her to NAMI in 2016, when she was hired to manage and edit NAMI’s publications: the NAMI Blog, Advocate, NAMI Now and more.
In late 2018, she left her role as Managing Editor to move into her current role. She now oversees the planning, development and execution of informational content on the NAMI website.

What piece of your work at NAMI are you most proud of?
I’m most proud when I overhaul an outdated or ineffective webpage. I enjoy looking at a problematic piece of writing, considering what’s already there, what might be missing, what isn’t working and what the whole piece could be doing better. Curating content so it communicates the correct information at the correct place and time is my passion.
Who inspires you?
I’m lucky that I get to work closely with NAMI’s medical director and other mental health professionals—who are brilliant and inspiring—and with incredible people with unbelievable lived experience, who inspire me to keep going every day.
