Shannon Scully is passionate about social justice and the creation of policies and programs that help the most vulnerable in our communities. She began her career working in direct services, mostly with individuals involved in the criminal justice system.

Most recently, Shannon worked with local communities to improve policies and services for survivors of violence, specifically people with disabilities, Deaf people and people who experience mental illness. Shannon holds a B.A. from the College of St. Benedict and a master’s in public policy from American University in Washington, D.C.

What do you wish more people knew about NAMI?

We don’t just advocate on behalf of families and caregivers of people who experience mental illness, we advocate with and on behalf of people who experience mental illness.

Who inspires you?

I’m inspired most by those who are daring greatly.
