Senior Associate, Governance and Membership
Elizabeth Monrad stumbled upon NAMI while looking for temp work in the Washington, D.C. area after graduating college. Having personal experience with depression, Elizabeth is pleased to work at an organization that supports and advocates for individuals living with mental health conditions.
Elizabeth has worked at NAMI in various membership-related roles since 2009. She currently assists NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates in using NAMI’s national online membership database as well as providing other membership resources. She holds a B.A. in history from Duke University.
What do you wish more people knew about NAMI?
I wish more people knew about NAMI, period! There are so many fantastic programs, classes and groups held by our NAMI Affiliates and NAMI State Organizations that really make a positive impact on their communities. I’m excited to see NAMI become a household name.
Who inspires you?
I am inspired by anyone living with a mental health condition who steps up to share their story. It can take a lot of strength and courage to do that, but their story can help others who are going through similar situations know they are not alone.
