Manager, Spanish Programs
Information, Support and Education
Anais Nin was born and raised in Puerto Rico, in a community that didn’t discuss mental health because it was considered taboo. She is passionate about raising mental health awareness in the Latino community, especially since she lost her father to suicide at a young age.
Anais believes everyone should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of age, race, color, gender, ability, culture, sexual orientation and/or immigration status. Everyone deserves the opportunity to live life without fear and to be part of an inclusive community. At NAMI, she translates and edits content for NAMI programs and provides technical assistance.
Anais holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Dayton. Spanish is her first language.
What do you wish more people knew about NAMI?
I wish more people knew about our education programs available in Spanish.
Who inspires you?
NAMI volunteers. They are the heart of NAMI. Volunteers share their stories and provide peer support to raise awareness and let people know they are not alone.
