As a first-generation Mexican-American, Britzel Zuniga is passionate about exploring new ways to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, particularly within the Latino community and the criminal justice system.
Britzel spent nine years in the Army National Guard as a Combat Medic, obtaining the rank of Sergeant, and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal for outstanding leadership and exemplary service. She holds a B.A. in public administration from George Mason University.
What piece of your work at NAMI are you most proud of?
I am most proud of contributing to the diversity of NAMI and having the opportunity to work closely with the grassroots.
Who inspires you?
I am inspired by all the individuals we serve, who have overcome great obstacles in life, and fight daily inner battles, but continue to be courageous and thrive.
