NAMI and CIT: A History of the Memphis Program
NAMI’s involvement and commitment to CIT programs goes back to the very beginning. In 1986, when Ann Dino’s son was transported to the hospital in a police car because he had a mental illness and the ambulance wouldn’t take him, she found the strength to ask “Why?”
This is the story of how CIT started in Memphis, Tennessee.
