Call for Proposals

NAMI is seeking proposals for workshops and presentations for our 2018 National Convention taking place June 27–30, 2018 in New Orleans. Proposals will be accepted online between Nov. 1 and Dec. 1, 2017. 

All workshops/presentations should fall within at least one of the following tracks:

  • Living Well with a Mental Health Condition – practical how-to tips and recovery strategies
  • Supporting Another's Recovery – self-care for the caregiver and how to help another
  • Research – updates and new innovations
  • Young Adults – be involved and get connected
  • Diversity, Culture & Inclusion – special communities, interests and issues
  • Policy & Advocacy – bringing change through advocacy
  • Leadership Development – growth and development as a leader or NAMI organization 
  • NAMI Programs – new innovations and best practices

Submission Tips & Presenter Info

Select the format, time and track that work best for your presentation.

Workshop presentations should:

  •  Strongly relate to one of the tracks above
  • Offer a 15-minute Q&A
  • Fit within a 75-minute workshop timeslot
  • Involve a maximum of 3 presenters

Flash Session presentations should:

  • Strongly relate to one of the tracks above
  • Deliver short, concise information about a topic
  • Fit into a 30-minute timeslot presented in the exhibit hall (platform, AV, seating for 30)
  • Allow for Q&A
  • Involve a maximum of 2 presenters

There are limited presentation slots available. Each proposal receives several reviews and careful consideration before final decisions are made and the convention program completed. Notifications will be sent to all submitters no later than February 15th

Please note: Convention presenters are entitled to a discounted full convention registration rate of $125.00. Travel and hotel expenses are not reimbursable.
